Therapeutic Uses of Exosomes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Exosomes are membrane vesicles with a diameter of 40-100 nm that are secreted by many cell types into the extracel‐ lular milieu. Exosomes are found in cell culture superna‐ tants and in different biological fluids and are known to be secreted by most cell types under normal and pathological conditions. Considerable research is focusing on the exploitation of exosomes in biological fluids for biomarkers in the diagnosis of disease. More recently, exosomes are being exploited for their therapeutic potential. Exosomes derived from dendritic cells, tumor cells, and malignant effusions demonstrate immunomodulatory functions and are able to present antigens to T-cells and stimulate antigenspecific T-cell responses. Exosomes have also been exam‐ ined for their therapeutic potential in the treatment of infections such as toxoplasmosis, diphtheria, tuberculosis and atypical severe acute respiratory syndrome as well as autoimmune diseases. Attempts to find practical applica‐ tions for exosomes continue to expand with the role of exosomes as a drug delivery system for the treatment of autoimmune/inflammatory diseases and cancers.

EXTRACELLULAR VESICLES AND THEIR THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS: A REVIEW
Background & Aims: Extracellular vesicles are double phospholipid layer vesicles releasing from several cells. These particles contain bio-molecules including mRNA, miRNA, DNA, proteins, and lipids which play a pivotal role in the cell to cell communication. Once delivered, they participate to change target cell function, fate, morphology, differentiation, and growth. The present study is a re...

Extracellular Vesicles, including exosomes, are small membrane fragments released from many cell types, like Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs). They were recognized as a mechanism of intercellular communication. They can transfer proteins, lipids and nucleic acids to other cells. Thus, they have many physiological (angiogenesis, coagulation and tissue repair, etc.) and pathological (e.g. in autoimm...
متن کاملExosomes: Future Perspective in Neurodegenerative Diseases
Neurodegeneration is a progressive and irreversible loss of neuronal cells in specific regions of the brain. Alzheimer Diseases (AD) Parkinson Disease (PD) are the most common forms of neurodegenerative diseases in older people. Exosomes are extracellular nanovesicles that have a key role in physiological processes such as intercellular communication, cell migration, angiogenesis, and anti-tumo...
متن کاملThe potential theragnostic (diagnostic+therapeutic) application of exosomes in diverse biomedical fields
Exosomes are membranous vesicles of 30-150 nm in diameter that are derived from the exocytosis of the intraluminal vesicles of many cell types including immune cells, stem cells, cardiovascular cells and tumor cells. Exosomes participate in intercellular communication by delivering their contents to recipient cells, with or without direct contact between cells, and thereby influence physiologic...

Objective(s): Exosomes are endogenous nanovesicles act as intercellular communication tools which have been considered to utilize as drug delivery systems. As transporting therapeutic molecules into brain has obstacles, preparing exosomes which have the potential to pass through its barriers is great challenge. Methods: Exosomes isolated from cell culture media of U87 glioblastoma ...
